Day 16 - A Day Off

                                          Acrylic on board 15cm x 15cm (6" x 6")

I had fun with this yesterday. I forced myself to paint fast and loose regardless of the outcome. Still not sure what I think of the outcome but it allowed me a day off from painting today. I had two up my sleeve yesterday after doing this one. Not that today was a real day off as I have been busy all day and have a daughter home sick with the flu - yes the flu - not a cold!

  1. Beautiful painterly style! You have captured the gorgeous sea blue that I have admired in the photos you often share with us. The challenge allows for exploration which we might otherwise not do.
I hope your daughter is feeling better and do take care of yourself too Wendy!!

    1. Thanks so much Celia! Yes, I have found that the challenge is helping to be more adventurous as I feel a little less precious about what the outcome must be when I'm painting every day. My Daughter seems to be improving a little thank you. I hope I am able to dodge it or it won't bode well for the challenge!

  2. Great painting, Wendy! I like the loose brush strokes in this one. Also love the 'Peach Blossom' from yesterday, the softness of the flower and the background are wonderful. Hope your daughter is feeling better soon! Good luck tomorrow with painting 17!

    1. You are very kind Hilje! I'm glad you like the looser style as I hope to try more along the same lines in the hope of improvement. Thanks for wishing my daughter well. Hopefully she will be back to her old self soon.

    1. Thanks so much Sally, I've had so much fun doing this challenge, but my poor paintbrushes are exhausted after lying idle for weeks. I value hearing which paintings stand out for you as I am hoping this challenge will help me narrow down some themes to focus on more closely. I'm just about to check out your latest painting which I can see in my sidebar!

  5. Love it. My favorite place to be, the beach! I think it came out great. Do you know how hard some of us try to be loose. It looks like it is working for you.

    1. Thanks so much for visiting Liana and for your very kind comments. Yes, I certainly do know how hard it is - this is the loosest I've ever achieved I think. I'm hoping I will be able to continue in this vein with my next beach scene.
